Common Stainless Steel Flange Types

Flange selection depends on piping connection method, pressure class, facing requirement and project specification.

Weld Neck Flange

Designed for butt-weld connection to piping and commonly used where a strong and continuous welded connection is required.

Slip-On Flange

Installed by sliding over the pipe and welding in place, offering a practical connection option for many piping systems.

Blind Flange

Used to close the end of a piping system, valve opening or pressure vessel connection.

Socket Weld Flange

Uses a socket connection for the pipe and is typically selected for applicable smaller-size piping systems.

FACING OPTIONS

Common Flange Facing Configurations

Flange facing should be selected according to the gasket, piping class and applicable project specification.

Raised Face — RF

Raised face flanges use a raised sealing surface around the bore and are widely used in industrial piping systems.

Flat Face — FF

Flat face flanges provide a sealing surface across the full flange face for applicable piping connections.

Ring-Type Joint — RTJ

RTJ flanges use a machined groove for a metallic ring gasket where the specified piping design requires this sealing arrangement.

Stainless Steel Flange FAQs

What types of stainless steel flanges can you supply?

Common flange types include weld neck, slip-on, blind, socket weld and threaded flanges. Other configurations can be evaluated according to project requirements.

Can you supply ASME B16.5 stainless steel flanges?

Yes. Stainless steel flanges can be supplied according to ASME B16.5 where applicable. Requirements under ASME B16.47 and other standards can also be evaluated according to the RFQ.

Are RF, FF and RTJ flange facings available?

Raised face, flat face and ring-type joint configurations can be supplied where applicable, according to the selected flange standard and project specification.

Can you supply 304L and 316L stainless steel flanges?

Yes. 304/304L and 316/316L are commonly supported. Duplex, super duplex and selected special alloys can also be evaluated according to the RFQ.

Can EN 10204 3.1 material certificates be provided?

EN 10204 3.1 material certificates can be provided where required. PMI, dimensional inspection, visual inspection, NDT and third-party inspection can also be arranged according to the purchase specification.

What information should I provide for a flange RFQ?

Please provide flange type, standard, material grade, nominal size, pressure class, facing, quantity and delivery destination. Drawings or project specifications can also be provided where relevant.
